Luke Hewitt
Artistic Director

Luke is one of the most popular and talented professional actors in WA and joined Constable Care as the organisation's Artistic Director in December 2011. Luke has a vast depth of experience in the professional theatre, TV and film industries and is also one of WA's foremost radio voiceover artists. He has been a cast member for every main stage theatre company and has toured extensively in productions throughout Australia.

Luke also has a long list of directing credits, has worked with WA Police on many television projects on aspects of road safety, and in an earlier life even toured with the "Bullybusters" school performances. His film credits include "Crush", "Stone Bros". "Two Fists One Heart" and "Immobile" and he has worked on numerous television programs including "Cloudstreet", "Parallax", "Bush Patrol", "Ship to Shore" and "Streetsmartz".

Jonathan Best
Performer

Jonathan has been involved in productions for many years and after completing year 12 he enrolled in Curtin University’s Performance Studies course. During the three years he spent at Curtin, he worked on plays by a wide variety of writers, including Shakespeare’s ‘Richard the Third’, Louis Nowra’s ‘Inner Voices’ and Brecht’s ‘Threepenny Opera’. He also performed works of Artaud, Boal and Ionesco. His greatest enjoyment though came from working on the end of year Pantomimes, including the ‘Wind in the Willows’ and ‘Aladdin’. Since graduating in 2008, he has performed in ‘She Stoops to Conquer’, directed by Stephen Lee, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s ‘Iolanthe’, and Ryan Taaffe’s direction of ‘Return To The Forbidden Planet’. He has also directed Tom Stoppard’s ’15 Minute Hamlet’ and his own 10 minute version of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ with the Stirling Player’s Youth Theatre Company. Theatre, and especially children’s theatre, remain Jonathan’s passion and will continue to do so for a long time.

Leah Callaghan
Performer

Leah is 22 years old and has been in the performance industry for most of her life. Starting from the early age of 8, she performed in numerous church performances, the biggest to a crowd of over a thousand. After excelling in theatre at school she went on to train at C3 College in Sydney and has since received her Diploma in Acting and Theatre Craft. Some of her performing highlights include her role in the short film, 'Morphine' and a starring role in the multi-media event 'Stolen'. After a short break from acting in 2010, Leah has reignited her passion for the performing arts and is learning new skills and techniques for engaging younger audiences in her role as a member of the Constable Care Performance Company.

Kate Clarke
Performer

Kate has been a professional performer in the Constable Care Company since 2008 and says she has “loved every minute of it”. Her acting history includes involvement with the Perth Actors Collective, working with well known casting agent Annie Murtagh-Monks and director Noel O'Neil in a range of disciplines, including voice training, movement, script analysis and acting for stage. In her spare time Kate also acts in community theatre productions, most recently starring in Garrick Theatre’s ‘Bone Chiller’.

Kimberley Harris
Performer

Kimberley developed her love of performing at a very young age, playing her first lead role as Lucky Ducky in The Sky is Falling Down at just five years of age. She completed her Certificate II in Musical Theatre at the WA Academy of Performing Arts in 2007 and in 2008 spent four months teaching singing to budding Broadway stars at the prestigious French Woods Festival of Performing Arts. Kimberley graduated with a Diploma of Screen & Media from The Film and Television Institute of WA in 2009, and has since devoted herself to honing her craft on stage and teaching singing to young children at the Stagecoach Performing Arts School. Kimberley's most memorable stage roles include Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Luisa Contini in the WA Premiere of Nine, Masha Sergeyvna in Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters and Julia Sullivan in The Wedding Singer. Kimberley is thrilled to be a part of the Constable Care Performance Company, and hopes to inspire and educate upcoming generations for many years to come.

Ethan Marrell
Performer

Ethan’s broad, artistic experience includes creative endeavours across music, film, and stand-up comedy. He has produced short films that have screened at festivals around the world and throughout 2010 and 2011 has been developing a feature film screenplay in association with ScreenWest. In addition to filmmaking Ethan has performed stand-up comedy in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and England. He has won accolades in various competitions, including ‘Raw Comedy National Finalist 2005’ and ‘FHM Search for Australia’s Funniest Man National Finalist 2005’. Ethan has always had a strong passion for performance and the entertainment industry, and is enjoying the opportunity to work with children as a part of the Constable Care Performance Company.

Paul Quartermain
Performer

Paul’s passion for performing started while making home movies with his older siblings and has grown exponentially from there. In 2005 he joined the Climbing Vine Theatre Company and at just 26 years of age has already acted in fifteen productions, directed seven, written six, designed sets for two, and now teaches a weekly class for aspiring young performers! As if this isn’t prolific enough, Paul has also had roles in short films including ‘Hidden Creatures’ in 2006, and in his first feature film ‘Inner Circle’ which premiered in WA in 2011. He is excited about his performance role with the Constable Care Company as he believes very strongly in the community messages and life skills the organisation is passing on to WA children.

Keren Schlink
Performer

Keren discovered her love of performing through ballet as a child but then found an even greater passion for acting in high school. She finished her Bachelor of Arts at Curtin University in 2009, majoring in Performance Studies and Creative Writing, and was an active member of the Hayman Theatre Company throughout her time there. Over the years Keren has experienced many genres of theatre, as well as studying stage combat, tap dancing, singing, oboe, ballet and recently the more circus-like skills of devil stick and swing poi. Keren also performs with Lady Velvet Cabaret and helps out at Stirling Players Youth, a theatre group for teenagers and young adults.

Kat Shaw
Performer

Kat completed a Bachelor of Arts at Curtin University's Hayman Theatre where she learnt many skills in aspects of the theatre, including acting, directing and stage management. She has always had a great love for children's theatre and after participating in many pantomimes over the years was excited to be able to utilise the skills she's learned for such a great cause as Constable Care. Kat also works in children's entertainment as a part-time fairy, and continues to nurture her creative side through music composition, script-writing and art in her spare-time. Working for Constable Care has sparked an interest in puppetry that she is very keen to pursue and explore further in the future!

Charlene Short
Performer

As a child Charlene always loved being an entertainer, taking any chance to put on a show for home videos, primary school assemblies and church plays, It was in high school Drama where she explored her talents further, performing in school productions such as Little Shop of Horrors and Oh What a Lovely War. Theatre became her passion and she then went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Performance Studies at Edith Cowan University. During her time at ECU Charlene gained valuable experience in acting, directing and staging contemporary theatre. Playing the role of Ruth in Harold Pinter’s The Homecoming was one of the highlights of her University career. Finishing her degree in 2010, Charlene had a short break from theatre but is now excited to be working with the Constable Care Performance Company educating and entertaining younger children.

Joshua Walker
Performer

It was in Singapore’s national pantomime that Joshua discovered his love of the stage and now twelve years and 50 acting credits on, acting has gone from hobby to passion and finally profession. Joshua finished a degree in theatre at Curtin University a couple of years ago and dove headfirst into the industry. He recently performed in Falstaff, his fifth show with the WA Opera, is writing his next show and generally auditioning for everything that comes along. As well as acting, Joshua has written and directed half a dozen shows, taught Drama and Film Skills at Gresham’s School and worked as stage manager and lighting operator for the Auden Theatre in Norfolk. He is also heavily involved with Stirling Players Youth program which he has worked with for several years. Joshua is loving working with Constable Care and bringing its messages to kids everywhere. His other loves include circus, cabaret, snowboarding and painting.
